Effing Stupid!

by Jobee, under Kurô

With mixed emotions like glee and exhilaration and excitement of being able to successfully install a Mac OS X (Leopard) on an ACER laptop, a rush of panic had stricken me. After restarting, it was not booting on the first-installed Windows XP!!!

Confusion and panic got the best of me, frantically typing keywords on Google to find the most appropriate action for what I was experiencing and to no avail, they just added to my confusion.

I have rebooted at least 3 times after some of the said solutions but to no avail it still boots on Leopard, hope slowly slipping away. I had to take the last resort on solving this problem, the impeccable “fixmbr” of Windows XP. After much convincing, I braced myself and typed the command “fixmbr \Device1\Partition1\Harddisk0 ” and then pressed “Enter”. After agreeing on the warning that seemed like gibberish, it did its way and said to me that it was successful.

All hope was totally gone when I rebooted and still got the Leopard. I decided to reboot one last time. As Darwin’s loader is counting down, I tried to press a key to show its boot options; and to my surprise and demise it held an option of booting to Windows XP! I tried it but unfortunately my Windows XP drive was already and “Invalid Partition Type” thanks to that EFFING FIXMBR!!!a

I feel like an idiot. Seriously.
